Christian McCaffrey was a late addition to the injury report, but it appears as though the San Francisco 49ers star running back will play despite the back issue. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the two-time First-Team All-Pro should be “good to go” as the team fights to hold on to its Wild Card spot.

Christian McCaffrey Injury Update: 49ers RB to Play Despite Back Injury
Anyone who even passively follows the San Francisco 49ers or fantasy football in general knows that Christian McCaffrey has endured his fair share of injury woes over the past few seasons. While he’s one of the league’s most dominant workhorses when healthy, he’s not always the best at staying on the field. Injuries limited McCaffrey to a combined 10 games in 2020 and 2021, and he only appeared in four games last year while battling an Achilles injury. San Francisco traded for Brian Robinson before the start of the season, but fortunately, the team hasn’t needed to play him too frequently.
Even if Christian McCaffrey isn’t at full strength, a team as talented as the 49ers shouldn’t need him to defeat the Tennessee Titans. While there is no such thing as an easy win in the NFL, the Titans are probably the league’s worst team despite their Week 14 win over the Cleveland Browns. First-overall pick Cam Ward is doing all he can in a terrible environment, but Tennessee has an atrocious supporting cast and already fired their head coach, and interim Mike McCoy hasn’t done much to inspire confidence. The 49ers, meanwhile, are 9-4 and should comfortably win this game.
If this gets out of hand early, don’t be surprised if the 49ers pull Christian McCaffrey and let him rest his injury. San Francisco will likely make the playoffs, and they’ll need their star running back healthy if they want to go on another deep postseason run.
