Cory Curtis: 2024 Week 8 Power Rankings

October 25, 2024 by WKRN - ABC 2

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — It is amazing how many bad teams I see this year. The thing is though, every year some team turns it around and puts on a run. Who is that going to be?

Your Week 8 NFL Power Rankings…

🏈 TITAN UP all season long with the latest news and notes on the Tennessee Titans

32. Panthers/Titans/Patriots/Browns – All of these teams are a mess and none of them can point fingers at eachother. The Patriots are awful, but at the very least they are getting some hope from Drake Maye. Right now, these are the four horsemen of the apocalypse.

28. New York Jets (2-5) – This is too low for Aaron Dodgers, Davante Adams, Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall, Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner? It should be! But it’s not! Consider this, they are averaging 15 points a game the last four weeks and their only two wins have come against the Titans and Patriots. It’s over.

27.  Jaguars/Giants/Raiders – The only reason they are not lumped in with the previous group of underachievers is somehow, someway this crew managed to win a second game. If they did not beat the Patriots, Doug Pederson would still be in London. What are the Raiders doing?

24. New Orleans Saints (2-5) – Was there a bigger fraud in the NFL after two weeks than this group? Alvin Kamara gets a two-year extension and while I like Kamara, is he still a difference maker?

23. Miami Dolphins (2-4) – There is only one question for this team: Can Tua stay on the field?

22. Los Angeles Rams (2-4) – Looks like the Rams want to tear it all down and start over. If Stafford is on the market, who does Sean McVay want to start over with?

21. Dallas Cowboys (3-3) – What a bunch of posers.

20. Indianapolis Colts (4-3) – They really should let Anthony Richardson sit, watch and learn. That’s not saying I don’t think he can be good one day, he’s just not ready now. His completion percentage is 48.5%. That’s horrific.

Chiefs acquire three-time All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins from the Titans

19. Arizona Cardinals (3-4) – I’ll tell you what, when Kyler Murray gets those little legs moving he is fun to watch! Cheetah2.0

18. Cincinnati Bengals (3-4) – Let’s not read too much into their resurgence. Their three wins? Panthers, Browns and Giants and the last two have not exactly been convincing. I’m very tempted to send them down the line, but my affinity for Joe Burrow is giving them a pass.

17. Los Angeles Chargers (3-3) – I really like Justin Herbert, I really do, but at some point he has to win games. Losing to Arizona is not good enough, and throwing for 350 yards and putting up zero touchdowns and 15 points is not good enough either.

16. Tampa Bay Bucs (4-3) – They are in trouble. You just don’t lose Mike Evans and Chris Godwin in the same game and it has no effect.

15. San Francisco 49ers (3-4) – Why can’t anyone on this team stay healthy?

14. Atlanta Falcons (4-3) – Is Kyle Pitts emerging from purgatory? 22 targets his last three games and 223 yards receiving.

13. Seattle Seahawks (4-3) – How will they fare without DK Metcalf?

12. Denver Broncos (4-3) – X-Mas comes early for Sean Payton! They face Bryce Young Sunday.

11. Chicago Bears (4-2) – The Bears have beat four lousy teams, against the Commanders we find out if they truly are on the rise or are just pretenders.

10. Philadelphia Eagles (4-2) – AJ Brown = Good at football.

9. Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2) – I am still not sold on this team or Russell Wilson. However, after a horrific start, Wilson did get things rolling with George Pickens.

8. Washington Commanders (5-2) – That was awesome to see Marcus Mariota play well off the bench. Beating the Panthers was one thing, he will face a stiffer challenge from the Bears Sunday.

7. Houston Texans (5-2) – If CJ Stroud throws for 86 yards again we will see if Stefon Diggs is still a supportive teammate.

6. Green Bay Packers (5-2) – Trap game ahead. They have the Jaguars before playing the Lions, Bears and 49ers.

5. Buffalo Bills (5-2) – Amari Cooper is definitely a big addition to that offense. Now he just needs to work on catching the ball.

4. Minnesota Vikings (5-1) – Whether they trade for Stafford or not, the talk was out there and we will see if it affects Sam Darnold and the team.

3. Baltimore Ravens (5-2) – That Lamar Jackson/Derrick Henry is looking just as scary as everyone thought it might.

2. Kansas City Chiefs (6-0) – Did you ever think you would see Patrick Mahomes with six TD’s and eight INT’s?

1. Detroit Lions (5-1) – I’ll go there, this is the most impressive looking team in the league. Jared Goff has completed 83% of his passes the last four weeks and it all starts with an explosive run game.
