NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Another week, another layer of deeper despair for Tennessee Titans fans.
Your Week 5 NFL Power Rankings…
41. Tennessee Titans (0-4) – Well, they were 40 last week and were worse, so they have to fall even if there is technically no team in front of them. To quote the great Ed Harris in Apollo 13: “What is it on that spaceship that works?”
🏈 TITAN UP all season long with the latest news and notes on the Tennessee Titans
31. New Orleans Saints (0-4) – Tip of the cap to the Saints — even though they were hopelessly outmanned — they competed in Buffalo.
30. Cincinnati Bengals (2-2) – They do not look like they can win another game without Burrow at this point.
29. New York Jets (0-4) – They do actually move the ball. The problem is that they move it forward and backward. Too many penalties.
28. Carolina Panthers (1-3) – Tetairoa McMillan has 278 yards; no other Panthers receiver, tight end or running back has 100.
27. New York Giants (1-3) – Jaxson Dart loses Malik Nabers day one; that is going to hurt.
26. Miami Dolphins (1-3) – That Tyreek Hill injury was gruesome. His loss to the Miami offense will also be alarming.
25. Cleveland Browns (1-3) – They have not scored more than 17 points in a game. I don’t see that changing against the Vikings.
24. Houston Texans (1-3) – They won, but I can not say I would call that a Texans revival. If they can not protect CJ Stroud against the Titans, they have real problems against teams with real pass rushing threats.
23. Las Vegas Raiders (1-3) – They’re a blocked field goal away from 2-2, and the bigger news is they finally got Ashton Jeanty going against the Bears when he averaged 6.6 yards per carry.
22. New England Patriots (2-2) – They have beaten the Dolphins and Panthers. Good for them. Now beat an NFL team.
21. Dallas Cowboys (1-2-1) – A lot of fight in the Cowboys against the Packers and without CeeDee Lamb in the lineup.
20. Atlanta Falcons (2-2) – Nice bounce back win. London and Robinson should be dominant players every week.
19. Arizona Cardinals (2-2) – They just seem limited.
18. Minnesota Vikings (2-2) – Carson Wentz has been better than expected.
17. Chicago Bears (2-2) – Caleb Williams was sacked almost 70 times last year. He has been sacked seven times this season. They have learned out to protect, and he is learning to get rid of the ball; it’s a winning combination.
16. Washington Commanders (2-2) – Marcus Mariota has filled in admirably, putting 41 and 27 points on the board.
15. Baltimore Ravens (1-3) – Sometimes that 1st place schedule gets the best of you. They’ve lost to the Bills, Chiefs and Lions (all Super Bowl contenders). They’re a turnover or two away from being 3-1. The only reason to panic is if Lamar Jackson is really hurt.
14. San Francisco 49ers (3-1) – Really, guys? I mean, it was Jacksonville at home? Help me out a little. You’re on the list!
13. Denver Broncos (2-2) – Dominated an overmatched Bengals team. Good to see JK Dobbins get going with a 101-yard game. He needs the ball more.
12. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-1) – Never thought I’d have them here this season, but here they are, led by 13 turnovers from their defense. Not even Trevor Lawrence can turn that into mediocrity.
11. Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1) – With the Browns and Bengals looming, they should be 5-1 headed into the Aaron Rodgers revenge game with the Packers.
10. Indianapolis Colts (3-1) – The definition of “stealing defeat from the jaws of victory.” Doh!!!!!!!!!!!!
9. Seattle Seahawks (3-1) – Sam Darnold is picking up in Seattle where he left off in Minnesota, completing 70% of his passes. Looks like the Seahawks upgraded.
8. Kansas City Chiefs (2-2) – I take full credit. I called the Chiefs “boring,” and they proceeded to put 37 points on the board, their most since September 2023.
7. Green Bay Packers (2-1-1) – Is clock management becoming a plague in the NFL? That was horrific to watch. Never thought I’d say “they were lucky to get a tie.”
6. Los Angeles Chargers (3-1) – First Slater, now Alt, losing both of your bookend tackles is a very tough blow.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1) – Emeka Egbuka is that guy. When you drafted a receiver in the first round, this is what you expect to see.
4. Los Angeles Rams (3-1) – Puka Nacua is an unstoppable force. The single season record for receptions is 149; he’s on pace for 178! And I think he will be closer to 178 than he is to 149, barring injury.
3. Buffalo Bills (4-0) – No, they didn’t lose, but I expected them to beat the Saints so badly they would be relegated.
2. Detroit Lions (3-1) – So impressive since that week one loss at Lambeau. They have won their last three by an average of 21 points and have averaged 41 points per game.
1. Philadelphia Eagles (4-0) – No, Jalen Hurts is not playing well, but it was wisely pointed out to me last week that this is still the best roster in the NFL.
