Derrick Henry has very favorable RB schedule for rest of season

November 11, 2022 by Titans Wire

Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry has been on fire over the last six games. Henry has eclipsed at least 115 total yards in six straight contests while topping over 100 rushing yards in five straight outings.

And things are set to get more favorable for Henry going forward, as the Titans currently have the third-easiest remaining running back schedule over the second half of the season, per Pro Football Focus

Henry has six games upcoming against run defenses that are currently ranked 20th or worse. The Titans are scheduled to face the Broncos (21st), Packers (26th), Eagles (20th), Chargers (29th), Texans (32nd), and Cowboys (24th) over the coming weeks.

Henry is currently averaging 108.8 rushing yards per game and is on pace for approximately 1,848 rushing yards by year’s end.

Naturally, as the weeks pass and Henry’s yardage grows higher, talk about the Alabama product potentially becoming the first player in NFL history to rush for 2,000 yards in two separate seasons will begin.

In order for the All-Pro running back to accomplish this rare feat, Henry needs to average approximately 126 yards per game the rest of the way.

Derrick Henry needs to average 125.5 YPG to hit 2,000 rushing yards on the season.

That average may sound unattainable for a normal back, but as everybody knows, Henry isn’t your ordinary ball carrier and actually gets stronger as seasons progress.

Most rushing yards per game in the NFL:

2019: Derrick Henry (102.7)
2020: Derrick Henry (126.7)
2021: Derrick Henry (117.1)
2022: Derrick Henry (107.9)

Over Henry’s last 56 contests, he’s averaged an astounding 116.1 yards on the ground. In total, the King has accounted for 6,507 rushing yards and 66 total touchdowns in that span.

There’s no telling if the star running back approaches anything close to another 2,000-yard season, but everything from his momentum to the opponents left on Tennessee’s schedule is setting up nicely for him to make a run at another historical season.
