Many were in shock when the Tennessee Titans decided to deal A.J. Brown this past offseason instead of doing what it took to keep their lone perimeter weapon in-house.
During a recent podcast appearance on the “Raw Room,” Brown opened up about the weeks leading up to the trade. Saying that the Titans wouldn’t move off their price and had they offered him $22 million rather than the $16 million ($20M with incentives) he would’ve stayed in Music City for his daughter.
The football world reacted to Brown’s admission on social media.
“22 mil would have been the 9th highest paid receiver and he is definitely a top 9 receiver,” a user replied.
“The Titans paid Julio Jones and Robert Woods $25.3 million (and gave up 2nd and 4th round picks in the trades) Both of them combined for less than 1,000 yards … They could’ve simply paid A.J. Brown and kept him for less,” Dov Kleiman tweeted.
“This shit get worse every day,” a fan said.
Brown said that he still has a good relationship with coach Mike Vrabel, although it hurt him to have to go silent during the process.
