Former Titans OCs Matt LaFleur and Arthur Smith trade playful barbs

August 12, 2021 by Titans Wire Leave a Comment

A pair of former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinators, Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith and Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, have been trading playful barbs of late during their respective pressers.

The back and forth started when Smith took a shot at his good friend LaFleur, who he also worked under as the Titans’ tight ends coach in 2018 when LaFleur was the offensive coordinator.

Smith, the Titans’ offensive coordinator from 2019 through 2020, joked that he doesn’t spend as much time looking in the mirror before games as LaFleur.

“I don’t spend an hour looking into the mirror before games like Matt LaFleur does,” said Smith, per Miles Garrett of FOX 5 Sports.

LaFleur went right back at Smith the next day, saying the Falcons head coach uses “Just For Men” hair dye, while also noting that Smith is younger than him yet is dealing with grays.

Smith fired back, saying LaFleur’s response was lame and it looks like he has black shoe polish in his hair. Smith then went on to talk about his relationship with the Packers head coach.

LaFleur is about to embark on his third season with the Packers going 26-6 and making a pair of NFC Championship Game appearances over the first two.

Smith, on the other hand, is making his head-coaching debut in 2021, and will see his first game in that role on Friday night against the Titans in the preseason opener in Atlanta.
