Gimme Him: One player Titans would steal from Bengals

December 11, 2024 by Titans Wire

The Tennessee Titans are coming off a very disappointing 10-6 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14 action. Now, they’ve set their sights on head coach Brian Callahan’s former team, the Cincinnati Bengals.

That, of course, provides those of us here at Titans Wire the opportunity to hypothetically steal from the Bengals’ roster in search of depth and/or talent upgrades.

The Titans and Bengals are complete opposites. The Titans have a very good defense and an awful offense while the Bengals have an elite offense and a terrible defense. That should make for an interesting game on Sunday afternoon.

The Bengals have a lot of talent, but three players stand out above the rest for the Titans. Quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receivers Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase.

Both of those receivers can change a game in a flash. Higgins has the size and speed to challenge any defense and is a matchup nightmare for defensive coordinators. But Chase is even better. He may be the most dynamic wide receiver in the game and can threaten at every level of the field. There is no doubt that both would make an impact for the Titans, but quarterback Joe Burrow would do that and more.

Burrow is elite and is in the midst of an MVP-caliber season. The former first-overall selection in the NFL draft has proven that when healthy, he is one of the best in the game. Most importantly, he has consistently produced behind subpar offensive lines, so he should excel behind the Titans’ porous offensive line.

Not only can Burrow make every throw, but he can read and react to what defenses are doing while under pressure. He clearly wouldn’t have missed a wide-open tight end at the goal line.

On the season, Burrow has completed 335-of-490 passes (68.4 percent) for 3,706 yards, 33 touchdowns, and only six interceptions. Those are incredible numbers for a quarterback on a team with a 5-8 record.

What are your thoughts, Titans fans? Would you pick Joe Burrow or steal an entirely different player from the Cincinnati Bengals?
