NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Edge rusher Jihad Ward has made his first appearance at the Tennessee Titans’ training camp in Nashville.
Ward signed with the Titans after linebacker Lorenzo Carter unexpectedly retired earlier this week.
The former Vikings player recorded a career 19 sacks and played in all 17 games for the Minnesota team last season.
“Yeah, he’s a big man,” said linebacker Femi Oladejo. “But we’re excited to have him. We’re excited to have anybody that comes in our room, just compete and get better on a daily basis.”
Last season, the Titans only tallied 32 sacks, which ranked third-lowest in the NFL.

“Played against him last year in Minnesota,” said head coach Brian Callahan. “A real versatile defensive lineman. He can play standing up as an outside linebacker and can rush from the interior, good size and strength and power. Excited to get him here and get him engrained in the system.”
The Titans’ first preseason game is scheduled for Aug. 9 on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
