Jonnu Smith bids farewell to Titans in social media post

March 16, 2021 by Titans Wire Leave a Comment

After agreeing to terms on a four-year, $50 million deal with the New England Patriots on Monday, former Tennessee Titans tight end Jonnu Smith posted to social media to bid farewell to his old team.

Smith’s departure was met with mixed reactions after it was announced, but ultimately there was just no way the Titans could afford to pay him what New England will end up signing him for.

Here’s a look at what Smith had to say on Instagram:

“When the smoke cleared you was there. Thank you for believing in a kid from the bottom. Every moment I had with this amazing franchise will forever remain in my heart. I gave you my all Tennessee thank you for giving me yours. Easy💰 forever and always,” Smith wrote.

And so ends Smith’s tenure in Nashville after four seasons and the Titans spending a third-round pick on him. He never fully realized his potential in Tennessee based on the make-up of the offense, but he’ll get a chance to do so in New England.

Interestingly enough, it won’t be long until the Titans see their former tight end on the field, as Tennessee will head to Foxboro to take on the Patriots during the 2020 season.
