One of the best wide receivers in the NFL was traded during the first round of the draft. On Thursday night, the Tennessee Titans shipped star wideout A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles for the 18th overall pick and a third-round pick.
Brown was set to enter the final year of his rookie contract. The Eagles solved that problem rather quickly, handing him a four-year, $100 million extension. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the deal will include $57 million guaranteed.
After the trade went through, Brown posted an interesting message on Twitter for his fans.
“Tennessee I love you and you will forever be in my heart and I can say this now… THIS WAS NOT MY FAULT,” Brown tweeted. “But I wish you all the best. Love.”
That tweet from Brown was then deleted.

In an interview with ESPN, Brown claims the Titans lowballed him with their contract offer.
“This wasn’t my fault,” Brown told ESPN. “I wanted to stay, but the deal they offered was a low offer. The deal they offered wasn’t even $20 million a year.”
The Titans’ offer for Brown apparently topped out at $16 million per season. It could’ve reached $20 million per year with incentives.
Brown has been outstanding since entering the league in 2019, hauling in 185 passes for 2,995 yards and 24 touchdowns. He’ll now get to showcase his skillset in Philadelphia.
