There’s eight divisions in the NFL but they’re not all built equally. Every year we wind up ranking the different divisions and one analyst believes that the weakest one is obvious.
Taking to Twitter on Sunday, ESPN NFL analyst Matt Miller declared the AFC South as the weakest division in the NFL. He believes that the Tennessee Titans are head and shoulders better than the other three teams when Derrick Henry is healthy.
It’s not an unfair assessment. The Jacksonville Jaguars are currently rebuilding and may take years before they’re division title contenders again.
The Indianapolis Colts have a rock-solid roster but can’t seem to find any sort of stability at quarterback. Though they do have a top tier running back in Jonathan Taylor who might be able to carry them to the playoffs.
As for the Houston Texans, they’re candidates to be the worst team in the NFL after trading Deshaun Watson and a second straight year with a messy offseason.
Given offseason additions so far, looks like the AFC South will be that conferences weakest division.
Great news for the Titans with Derrick Henry returning and additions to the passing game.

So, if you’re betting on the No. 1 seed in the AFC this early, Titans are a pretty good candidate given in-division schedule

Meanwhile, the Tennessee Titans have made the playoffs in three straight years and have six straight winning seasons. They’re head and shoulders above their division rivals from a stability standpoint.
Given that the AFC West has turned into a massive arms race, the AFC North has several elite quarterbacks and the AFC East is a two-horse race, the Titans might be the obvious pick to win the top seed in the AFC this year.
Is the AFC South the worst division in the NFL right now?
