NFL Analyst Names 3 Potential Trade Teams For Derrick Henry

May 21, 2023 by The Spun

Titans GM Ron Carthon has said that the team won’t be taking any trade calls on star running back Derrick Henry, but the team also said the same thing about ex-wideout A.J. Brown.

If Tennessee were to deal the former 2,000-yard rusher, Bleacher Report‘s Brad Gagnon believes these three teams would be the most likely landing spots; all of which are realistic contenders in 2023, starting with the Baltimore Ravens.

Writing:

They have three decent backs in J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards and Justice Hill, but none are game-changers like Henry, and Dobbins and Edwards have had have some trouble remaining on the field. If they’re going all-in with Lamar Jackson, this would be the move.

Gagnon went on to name another team in the AFC North have knocked on the door of a Super Bowl each of the last two years: The Cincinnati Bengals.

Noting:

After June 1, the Super Bowl-or-bust Bengals save $10 million in salary-cap space by releasing veteran Joe Mixon. A one-for-one replacement with Henry would make a lot of sense as they bridge the gap to rookie fifth-round pick Chase Brown and/or 2019 sixth-rounder Trayveon Williams.

Last but not least is a team on the rise that is also in the conference. And it would certainly make the offense that much scarier:

This would be one way to make Aaron Rodgers happy, and this was a bottom-eight rushing game in terms of DVOA in 2022 that could use an upgrade over Breece Hall (who is coming off a torn ACL) and Michael Carter (who averaged just 3.5 yards per carry last year).

There’s definitely a market for the 29-year-old RB, but time will tell if the Titans are willing to move off of him.
