The Titans have released several veteran players this offseason, such as Ben Jones, Taylor Lewan and Robert Woods. That has people wondering if Ryan Tannehill is next.
Last month, Titans general manager Ran Carthon said Tannehill would be the team’s quarterback in 2023.
“Ryan is under contract,” Carthon said. “I know everybody wants to make a big deal out of the quarterback position and whether he will or won’t be here, but you guys just have to accept the fact that Ryan is under contract for us. Right now, he’s a Titan and he will be a Titan.”
That being said, the NFL world thinks Tannehill will be on the move sooner than later.
“The Titans continue to release notable veteran players from their roster. Tennessee will be an interesting team to watch this offseason,” ESPN’s Field Yates said. “Do they push for a reset or can they plug their holes and continue to rely on an offense led by Derrick Henry and Ryan Tannehill?”
“The #Titans already released LT Taylor Lewan, WR Robert Woods, LB Zach Cunningham, Kicker Randy Bullock, Center Ben Jones and will be cutting Bud Dupree in the coming days,” Dov Kleiman tweeted. “New GM Ran Carthon is changing the team. Will Ryan Tannehill be next?”
Tannehill had 2,536 passing yards and 13 touchdowns this past season. He was limited by a nagging ankle injury.
The Titans have Tannehill under contract through this season. His base salary is $27 million.
