Ravens, Titans Connected In “Perfect” Trade Rumor

March 3, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Harold Landry Trade

Tennessee Titans edge defender Harold Landry is looking for a trade, and ESPN’s Ben Solak believes one AFC contender is a perfect fit for the former second-round pick. While he isn’t a household name, Harold Landry has been a remarkably consistent pass rusher since entering the league in 2018. Making one Pro Bowl, the Boston College product has recorded at least nine sacks in four of his past five healthy seasons.

Now entering his age-29 season, the rebuilding Titans would rather have a draft pick instead of an aging, expensive pass rusher who might be past his prime by the time the team is ready to compete. However he might be closer to the end of his career than the beginning, Solak believes the Baltimore Ravens could get the most out of the veteran.

“Landry is far from a splashy name, but he can have a significant impact on a team that doesn’t need him to be its star pass rusher. His best season as a pass rusher  came in 2019, when he had a 12.2% pressure rate; his worst season came in 2024, when he had a 10.4% pressure rate…His get-off, as measured by NFL Next Gen Stats last season, was the fastest of his career (0.72 seconds). Only Nick Bosa and Myles Garrett were better.”

ESPN: Ravens, Titans Should Agree to Harold Landry Trade

Solak believes Harold Landy is better off as the second- or third-best pass rusher on a team, which makes the Baltimore Ravens an enticing trade destination. The team currently has a reliable duo in former first-round pick Odafe Oweh and veteran Kyle Van Noy, but they could use another body at the position. Historically speaking, Baltimore prefers to rotate their edge defenders to keep everyone fresh, but you need three reliable edge defenders to do that.

Adding Landry to the mix could easily accomplish this goal, as the veteran remains an above-average starter despite being dangerously close to his 30th birthday. Having him split snaps with Van Noy and Oweh should keep all three players fresh, which is vitally important for a team with realistic Super Bowl aspirations. Of course, everything in this world comes at a price, so what would it take for the Titans to trade Harold Landry?

Possible Trade Cost

The biggest complicating factor in the Harold Landry trade talks is his contract. As of this posting, the veteran carries a staggering $24 million cap hit with no guaranteed salary. The Titans will take $13.1 million in dead money if they trade him, but Baltimore will be on the hook for the remaining $10.95 million. The Ravens currently have just $12.4 million in cap space, so Landry’s contract will take up most of their currently available money.

While Baltimore can always cut players and restructure contracts for additional spending money, their resources are not limitless. If the Titans aren’t willing to take on additional dead money, then they’ll probably have to settle for a fourth-round pick in a Harold Landry trade. However, if they’re willing to eat some of Landry’s contract, then they might be able to get a third-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft for his services.
