Report: Titans Expected To Add Veteran Offensive Lineman

For a dominant run-first offense, having good line depth is very important. The Tennessee Titans fit the mold, and are adding a solid veteran up front.

Brent Qvale broke into the league in 2014 as an undrafted free agent out of Nebraska. He spent his first six NFL seasons with the New York Jets, before a move to the Houston Texans for the 2020 season.

As we move through training camp, it looks like he’ll stick in the AFC South. Qvale is joining the Titans’ front, blocking for Derrick Henry and an improving passing attack, which added Julio Jones this off-season.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport broke the news this afternoon. It is unclear what type of deal Qvale is getting for the season. He made $910,000 with Houston last season.

Veteran OT/G Brent Qvale is expected to sign with the #Titans, source said. Quality depth, the former #Texans OL now stays in the division with Tennessee.

Brent Qvale has been a spot starter throughout his NFL career. As a Jet, he played in 63 games, starting 15 total games across six seasons. Last year, he started three games in 14 appearances for the struggling Texans.

He’ll be tasked with opening holes for the NFL’s most notorious bulldozer. Derrick Henry exploded for 2,027 yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground last season, finishing as a true MVP candidate for the Tennessee Titans. The team is expected to feed him plenty this fall, though quarterback Ryan Tannehill has one of the scarier wide receiver duos to throw to now, with A.J. Brown and Julio Jones split out wide.
