The first sign that the Tennessee Titans might be making a big move like signing Jadeveon Clowney came when the team traded away Jurrell Casey in a pure salary dump.
Then, a rumor surfaced that the Titans might be one of the teams who have made an offer for Clowney, along with the Seattle Seahawks and New York Jets.
Since then, it has been a waiting game for Titans fans, and a grueling one at that, as excitement is through the roof that Tennessee might have a chance to land the big fish in free agency.
The EA Madden NFL video game has its own Tik Tok page and on it is a video of different free agents who have their jerseys switched to the team they have signed with or been traded to.
Among them on the video are Todd Gurley (to the Falcons), Darius Slay (traded to the Eagles) and A.J. Bouye (traded to the Broncos), all moves that have been pretty much confirmed.
The most interesting part of the video for Titans fans comes when it shows Clowney switching from a Seattle Seahawks uniform to a Titans one. There has been zero confirmation or even reports that this has happened, though.
UPDATE: The video was removed from Madden’s TikTok page shortly after posting this and has now been replaced by the same video minus Clowney (Link).
Now, what do we make of all this?
The most likely explanation is that this was a mistake made by the person who put this video together. Perhaps this person misunderstood a report or rumor and pegged Clowney to the Titans.
Or, perhaps this is some kind of unintentional leak, but that is pretty far-fetched. After all, it’s doubtful the video game has that kind of inside sources, which would put it on the level of Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter.
Whatever the case may be, this is yet another crazy twist in what has been a ridiculous offseason overall for the NFL. A conclusion to this Clowney situation couldn’t come any sooner, and hopefully we don’t have to go through an entire weekend wondering what will happen.
