It isn’t every day that a team boasts an undefeated, 5-0 record to begin an NFL season. What’s even more unlikely is to be considered an underdog with that record. That’s the exact scenario the Tennessee Titans found themselves in earlier this week, and it’s one the Pittsburgh Steelers currently find themselves in after Vegas changed its mind on Thursday.
The Steelers head to Nissan Stadium in Nashville on Sunday ready for a slugfest. This game will decide the AFC’s top dog through seven weeks and should have playoff seeding implications as well.
In Week 6, both teams lost star players to torn ACL injuries on opposite sides of the ball. Losing Pro Bowl left tackle Taylor Lewan was a brutal blow to the Titans’ Lombardi Trophy aspirations. The Steelers lost field general, linebacker Devin Bush, their first-round pick from the 2019 NFL Draft.
You could say fate intervened, and the playing field has evened itself out for Sunday’s matchup. However, the Titans’ loss of Lewan is perhaps immensely more significant, as the Titans could struggle to match up with the Steelers in the trenches.
While we’re on the subject of matchups, let’s take a look at those most crucial to both teams in Week 7.
