Tennessee Titans Wide Receiver Suffers Latest Injury Setback

July 27, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

The Titans’ embattled young receiver, Treylon Burks, had a tough road to making the 53-man roster before the latest injury setback on Saturday afternoon. Burks’ path to a roster spot got significantly arduous as the news of his injury broke via the NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport and Tom Pelissero. The NFL Network was in Nashville for its annual “Back Together” training camp series. Burks was reportedly injured after making an impressive play on the sidelines.

Burks could be at the end of the line in terms of his Tennessee career, as there were multiple reports of trade speculation before the injury. If the initial reports are accurate, a fractured collarbone might indicate a season-ending injury. Last season, Christian Kirk suffered a similar injury in October, which forced him to miss the majority of the 2024 season. Fortunately for Burks, the injury occurred in training camp, so he could return to action quicker than Kirk did. However, given numerous factors working against him, Burks might have played his last down in Nashville. These factors include a new general manager who didn’t draft him, a coaching staff that has barely worked with him, and his injury history.

While he is an excellent young man by all accounts, perhaps the physical toll isn’t the best for Burks in the long term. The team is already without a key component of their quarterback room.

Please note that the team has not released any information as of press time regarding Burks’ health.

What’s Next For The Titans?

According to OverTheCap, the franchise would incur a dead cap charge of $4.5 million if it chose to release him outright. Tennessee’s best option for a thinning receiver room would be to place him on Injured Reserve with a return designation. The training camp battles for the remaining receivers on the back end of the depth chart just became much more critical. GM Mike Borgonzi has been busy churning through the waiver wire for receiver depth recently. The team signed Matt Landers on Friday after working out former Saints receiver Tre’Quan Smith, per Aaron Wilson.

Depending on the severity and length of injury, expect the Titans to trawl the free agency market for more receiver help. Notable names include Amari Cooper, former Titan Tyler Boyd, and the aged Keenan Allen. As a response to the Burks injury, ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that the franchise has signed receiver Ramel Keyton.

With Treylon Burks injuring his collarbone, Titans are signing former Raiders WR Ramel Keyton, per his agent Zac Hiller of LAA.

Keyton was among the group that tried out for the team on Friday, so it is a rapid turnaround for him. He played collegiately for the University of Tennessee before signing with the Raiders as an UDFA last season. Perhaps there is a chance that he makes the roster, but it won’t be easy with the talent ahead of him. The Titans have had a theme for their receiver workouts with big and fast vertical threats. Keyton is that, measuring in at 6’3 190+. Should the Titans add more to their receiver room via trade? One would certainly think they would explore the market.
