The Washington Commanders and star wide receiver Terry McLaurin appear to be at the point of no return in contract discussions, as the two-time Pro Bowler has requested a trade. Entering the final year of his contract, McLaurin believes he deserves an extension that rewards him for his reliable play over the past six seasons. The Commanders, meanwhile, are hesitant to pay up for a player entering his age-30 season.
Money fixes all woes, so perhaps the Commanders can give McLaurin the raise he desires. However, one General Manager says the time for that has likely passed and this could turn into a Haason Reddick situation. This suggests the Washington Commanders will trade Terry McLaurin, and he should have no shortage of suitors.

Terry McLaurin Officially Requests Trade: 4 Team Fits Emerge
New England Patriots
Terry McLaurin was supposed to be the top wide receiver for a promising second-year quarterback, and that could still be the case if the Patriots trade for him. While he didn’t make it to the NFC Championship Game, UNC’s Drake Maye did a remarkable job of showing promise in a disastrous environment last year. Now playing under a legitimate coach in Mike Vrabel, the team made a medium-risk, high-reward move with the Stefon Diggs acquisition. While the wideout appears to be performing well in practices, it wouldn’t hurt to add a more reliable veteran to the mix. McLaurin, Diggs, and third-year pro Demario Douglas could give New England one of the league’s better wide receiver rooms, and the Patriots have the cap space to pull this off.
Los Angeles Chargers
Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh spent the offseason building the running game and investing in the trenches, and now it’s time to build a dangerous passing attack. Justin Herbert is one of the game’s best quarterbacks and Ladd McConkey is a budding star, but a Terry McLaurin trade could take this offense to the next level. Seeing as they play in one of the league’s most competitive divisions, Harbaugh and company must do everything they can to increase their odds of hosting at least one playoff game.
Tennessee Titans
The Titans hope they have their quarterback of the future in first-overall pick Cam Ward. While Ward’s own abilities will ultimately determine whether or not he enjoys a long career in the NFL, Tennessee can increase their odds of his success with a Terry McLaurin trade. Calvin Ridley still has gas in his tank, but the rest of the depth chart leaves a lot to be desired. Even if McLaurin slows down in his age-30 season, he’ll still be better than Van Jefferson and what’s left of Tyler Lockett.
New York Jets
The New York Jets gave Garrett Wilson a well-deserved raise, so perhaps they won’t trade for another high-priced wide receiver like Terry McLaurin. However, this team still needs a second wide receiver, and McLaurin is the best option available at this point in the offseason. Justin Fields avoided disaster with his toe injury, so first-year head coach Aaron Glenn still has every reason to go all-in and break this team’s seemingly endless playoff drought.
