The Titans Released 3 Players On Monday Afternoon

The NFL deadline for the next roster limit is just around the corner and teams are making some tough cuts today. For the Tennessee Titans, those cuts have led to the release of several players – one of which effectively ends a key position battle.

On Monday, the Titans announced the release of three players: offensive tackle Paul Adams, offensive guard Ross Reynolds, and kicker Tucker McCann. All three were waived with injury designations. Defensive lineman Anthony Rush was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

The release of McCann is especially noteworthy for the Titans. His release effectively makes veteran kicker Sam Ficken the winner of the team’s starting kicker battle. ProFootballTalk noted that Ficken has looked good this summer, connecting on 48 out of 53 field goals in practice and making all of his kicks in the preseason.

Adams and Reynolds have never appeared in an NFL game. They both spent the majority of 2020 off and on various NFL practice squads.

The moves will bring the Tennessee Titans down to 81 players ahead of the deadline to reduce rosters to 80. The deadline for teams to make those cuts is Tuesday afternoon.

At least one more cut is on the way before then. After that, it’s on to their final preseason game against the Chicago Bears. Next week, the final 53-man roster cuts will be made.

Which other players will be released from the Titans roster before the upcoming deadlines?
