The Tennessee Titans made several tweaks to their practice squad on Tuesday afternoon ahead of their crucial Week 8 showdown with the Indianapolis Colts. Most notably, running back Mekhi Sargent was added to their reserve team.

The @Titans have added two players to their practice squad – RB Mekhi Sargent and DL Eli Ankou – while releasing three others.

A fan favorite who captured the hearts of the fan base in July and August, Sargent was released from the 53-man roster just days ago once Darrynton Evans was deemed healthy enough to make his return to the gridiron. Sargent was always a prime candidate to be added to the practice squad, something we predicted in our news article that initially covered his release. Keeping Sargent in the fold makes a terrific amount of sense. He’d quickly recapture a spot on the active roster should anything happen to Evans or even Jeremy McNichols.

Additionally, the Titans added DT Eli Ankou to the practice squad. A Canadian native that played collegiately at UCLA. Ankou has spent time with the Texans, Jaguars, Browns, Colts, Cowboys, Bills, Falcons and Steelers since breaking into the league as an undrafted free agent in 2017. Ankou has played in 27 career games and has recorded 31 tackles and 1.5 sacks. 2022 NFL Draft. Ankou was actually coached by Mike Vrabel for several months in 2017, when Vrabel served as his defensive coordinator in Houston.

Meanwhile, the Titans have released defensive lineman Abdullah Anderson, linebacker Dylan Cole and center James Murray from their practice squad. All three players were recent additions, and did NOT appear with the team in training camp or preseason.

As always, stay tuned to MCM for all roster updates with in-depth reactions and analysis.
