Titans Announce Major Update On QB Ryan Tannehill

Late last month, the Tennessee Titans dealt with a “cluster” of COVID-19 cases after head coach Mike Vrabel returned a positive test.

Just a few days later, the team learned that starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill also tested positive for the virus. As a result, he was forced to go on the Reserve/COVID-19 list – where he’s been for nearly two weeks.

Thankfully, Tannehill didn’t suffer any ill-effects from the virus. Despite feeling healthy, he still had to be apart from the team for anywhere between 5-10 days as he recovered.

After that, he needed to produce two consecutive negative tests to come back to the team. On Saturday afternoon, NFL insider Ian Rapoport revealed Tannehill did just that.

Tennessee activated Tannehill from the team’s Reserve/COVID-19 list on Saturday.

During the 2020 season, the Titans were one of several teams to go through a COVID-19 outbreak that forced the team to reschedule its game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

While most of the team is vaccinated, breakthrough cases will still be a problem during the 2021 campaign. Hopefully the team – and every team in the league – can stay healthy this season.

The Titans open the season on Sunday, September 12 against the Arizona Cardinals with kickoff set for 1:00 p.m. ET.
