Titans GM Ran Carthon attempted to quiet the noise surrounding Ryan Tannehill’s future in Tennessee on Tuesday.
Per longtime Titans reporter Jim Wyatt, Carthon had this to say about the veteran QB: “He is under contract for us and right now he is a Titan and he will be a Titan.”
Titans fans may be saying to themselves that that’s almost exactly what the team said about star receiver A.J. Brown before he was dealt to the Philadelphia Eagles this past offseason.
Tannehill has been among the most expensive quarterbacks in the league since coming to Nashville, earning $101.4 million in cash earnings dating back to 2019; good for 10th most in the NFL.
Statistically, Tannehill has largely performed well for the Titans, but unfortunately it hasn’t led to the playoff success many had hoped for given the team’s regular season records over the past few years.
Tennessee took a flyer on Malik Willis in last year’s draft, but he still seems to have a ton of development to go before he can be seen as a viable starting quarterback. It’ll be interesting to see what direction the team goes once April rolls around.
