Grammy-winning singer Mandisa passed away this week at the age of 47. This tragic news was confirmed on her Instagram account.

“We can confirm that yesterday Mandisa was found in her home deceased. At this time we do not know the cause of death or any further details,” the post read. “We ask for your prayers for her family and close knit circle of friends during this incredibly difficult time.Mandisa was a voice of encouragement and truth to people facing life’s challenges all around the world.

Even though Mandisa was born in California, she resided in Nashville. With that said, she performed for the Tennessee Titans during her career.

On Friday afternoon, the Titans released a heartfelt statement about Mandisa’s passing.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of loyal Titans fan, singer and beloved member of our community, Mandisa,” the team said. “Our sincerest condolences go out to her family and friends at this time.”

Mandisa studied vocal jazz during her time at American River College in Sacramento. In 2005, she gained a ton of popularity for her audition on “American Idol.”

Two years later, Mandisa released her debut album, “True Beauty.” She went on to release five additional albums.

Our thoughts are with Mandisa’s family and friends during this difficult time.
