Titans officially place Derrick Henry on IR, activate OL Daniel Munyer

Catastrophic news on this Monday morning.

As you know by now, Tennessee Titans star running back Derrick Henry is out indefinitely with a foot injury. The Titans officially placed him on injured reserve on Monday evening. It means that Henry must miss a minimum of three games, but that’s a moot point since Henry will be out much longer than that.

Head coach Mike Vrabel announced earlier on Monday the plan is for Henry to undergo foot surgery on Tuesday morning. Vrabel did not give a timetable for Henry’s possible return, which is par for the course considering Vrabel, general manager Jon Robinson (and the Titans in general) never discuss injuries or their timelines with great detail. The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport claims it will be 6-10 weeks, while admitting six weeks is on the way-too-early and optimistic side, whereas ESPN’s Adam Schefter continues to lean towards the “season-ending” timeline. What we know for sure is that Henry will be out for the foreseeable future, and the team added veteran free-agent running back Adrian Peterson on Monday to help replace their 2,000 yard rusher. We expect Peterson to lead the team in carries against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, and every week after that as well.

Additionally, the Titans activated offensive lineman Daniel Munyer from Injured Reserve to the active roster. Munyer was moved to the team’s “Designated for Return from Injured Reserve” list in mid October and immediately began practicing with the team. Two weeks later, Munyer is seemingly healthy enough to return to the active roster. Munyer, who has been with the Titans on again/off again since the 2019 season, will now provide quality depth on the interior of the offensive line, while directly serving as Ben Jones’ backup at the center position.

As always, stay tuned to MCM for updates on Henry and everything else Titans related.
