Titans part ways with Brian Callahan as head coach

October 14, 2025 by WKRN - ABC 2

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Tennessee Titans announced Monday head coach Brian Callahan has been let go by the team.

Titans’ President of Operations Chad Brinker said the change was made after conversations with controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk and General Manager Mike Borgonzi.

Callahan went 4-19 as head coach of the Titans, with a 20-10 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. The former Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator was hired in January 2024 after the departure of Mike Vrabel, who was let go after six seasons with 18 losses in his final 24 games.

‘Embarrassing’: Titans fans sound off on team, call for change at head coach

Under Callahan, the team started 0-3 in back-to-back seasons. They also haven’t won a home game since early November 2024. The Titans have not won two games back-to-back since November 2022, a 47-game stretch.

The team released a statement, which reads:

After extended conversations with our owner and general manager, we met with Brian Callahan this morning to tell him we are making a change at head coach. These decisions are never easy, and they become more difficult when they involve people of great character. We are grateful for Brian’s investment in the Titans and Tennessee community during his tenure as head coach. We thank him and his family for being exemplary ambassadors of the Tennessee Titans.

While we are committed to a patient and strategic plan to build a sustainable, winning football program, we have not demonstrated sufficient growth. Our players, fans, and community deserve a football team that achieves a standard we are not currently meeting, and we are committed to making the hard decisions necessary to reach and maintain that standard.

The status of Callahan’s father, Bill Callahan, who serves as the team’s offensive line coach, is unknown.

According to multiple reports, Titans senior offensive assistant Mike McCoy will serve as the team’s interim head coach. McCoy was most recently the quarterbacks coach in Jacksonville for three seasons before coming to Tennessee in 2025.

McCoy was the San Diego Chargers head coach from 2013 to 2016. He finished with a 27-37 record during his four-season tenure with the Chargers.

No additional information was immediately released.
