After their disappointing finish to the 2022 NFL season, the Tennessee Titans have a lot of work ahead of them in what may be a wild offseason. As a result, more tough cuts are on the way.
According to Buck Reising of AtoZ Sports, the Titans are releasing Pro Bowl center Ben Jones. Per the report, the team gave Jones the option to retire or be released and Jones chose to be released.
The Titans signed Jones as a free agent in 2016 after he spent his first four years with the Houston Texans, playing all along the interior offensive line. But after joining the Titans, Jones became a rock at center.
Jones has missed only six games in his entire 11-year career. He has started every game he’s played since the 2014 season.
In 2022, Jones made the Pro Bowl despite missing five games.
The Tennessee Titans could be gearing up for a rebuilding year. There have been reports that the team may release or trade starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill and are actively shopping all-world running back Derrick Henry.
The Titans started the 2022 season with a 7-3 record, but midseason injuries caused them to lose all of their last seven games and narrowly miss the playoffs.
Tennessee also have a new general manager heading into the 2023 season, so they might make tons of changes just to fit his vision on top of all of the other things they’re dealing with internally.
What other veterans will the Titans release this offseason?
