The Tennessee Titans hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars in an AFC South divisional matchup on Sunday. It was the first of two meetings between the two teams, and it was a low-scoring affair with the Jaguars coming out on top in a game the Titans practically gave away in another second-half collapse.
The Titans’ defense held strong early in the game and saw both Chidobe Awuzie and Otis Reese grab an interception. But the unit seemed to wear down near the end, allowing the Jaguars to score a touchdown in the fourth quarter. They took a 10-6 lead and the Titans never recovered.
There was one constant throughout the game, though. Running back Tony Pollard carried the Titans’ offense on his back today earning Player of the Game Honors despite never finding the end zone. He ran 21 times for 102 yards, an average of 4.9 yards per carry, and caught two passes for 22 yards.
Despite Pollard’s best efforts, he did not reach the end zone today and have it count. He found it once, but his touchdown was called back due to a hold by Dillon Radunz.
It seems the Titans take two steps forward and five steps back every other week. This was a completely avoidable loss. The Titans are lucky to have Pollard on their side and need to continue to make use of his skills going forward.
