The Tennessee Vols are no longer on top of the heap on Monday with the release of the new college baseball polls. Tennessee dropped from the top spot to 4 in Baseball America and 5 in D1 Baseball’s newest polls released on Monday morning.

At first glance, that might seem like a little bit of a tough drop for a team who’s 28-4 and 9-3 in SEC play. That is elite most any other year. However, the SEC is an absolute powder keg in 2025, and as such, it’s not too much of a surprise they fell to where they did.

Arkansas moved into the top spot at 30-3. They sit at 11-1 in SEC play after clobbering a truly gross Missouri team (0-12 in SEC play) over the weekend. Texas is also 11-1 in conference play after a very impressive sweep of Georgia in Austin last weekend. LSU also swept OU in Norman to move to 10-2 in SEC play.

As such, it was a logical landing spot for Tennessee, who now sit fourth in conference play. However, Tennessee will have a golden opportunity to move up again next week, as the Vols are set to face Ole Miss starting on Friday in Oxford. The Rebels checked in at #6/7 in the polls, so it will indeed be a top 10 battle that will be key as the teams reach the halfway point of the conference schedule.
